| I was reading through a previous post entitled wheel and tire 101 and it is mentioned that heavier wheels have a greater rotational intertia, I would like to know the approximate magnitude of the effect. Does anyone know of a wheel mass to torque loss calculator? Once the mass of the wheel is known, and a distribution of mass is assumed for the wheel, it should be possible to calculate how much torque is lost by having a heavier wheel. Please correct me if wrong, but the most difficult/error prone step in doing this is assuming a value for the distribution of wheel mass? This would be very useful info to have when deciding where to spend hard earned cash.
